Getting Access to Tailo
How do I get access to Tailo?
There are different ways that you may be able to get access to Tailo:
1. If you are a UK Student, Tailo is currently available via the Disabled Students’ Allowance
2. If you are a student in North America, you can receive a licence through your college or university if they have an educational licence with us (contact your Disability or Academic Success team if you are not sure whether this is an option.)
How do I log-in to Tailo?
The link you use to access Tailo depends on where you live.
United Kingdom
You can log in to Tailo by visiting read.uk.tailoapp.com
North America
You can log in to Tailo by visiting read.us.tailoapp.com
Logging In to Tailo
Logging in to Tailo is quick and easy – no password required!
- Enter your email address on the login screen
- We’ll send you a one-time passcode to your email
- Check your inbox (and your spam/junk folder just in case)
- Enter the passcode on the Tailo login screen
- You’re in!
Every time you log in, you’ll get a new one-time passcode, so there’s no need to remember a password.

Setting Up Tailo
How do I set up Tailo and what are the system requirements?
Tailo is a web-app, so does not need to be downloaded and installed on your computer or phone. Tailo is compatible with all web browsers, including Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Safari.
Tailo requires an internet connection to work, and we recommended that your web-browser is kept up-to-date.
How do I customise Tailo?
To customise the visual settings of Tailo, log in to your account and navigate to the Appearance button on the bottom-left corner.
Here, you can change your background colour, font, font size, line spacing and text alignment. Tailo uses these settings to transform the documents you upload into a consistent format. You can change these settings at any time.
Using Tailo
What kinds of documents can I use with Tailo?
Tailo currently supports PDFs and Word Documents, and is perfect for reading and summarising academic papers, articles, textbook chapters, and more.
As Tailo summarises the key messages from the documents you upload, we recommend uploading individual articles and chapters rather than whole textbooks.
What languages does Tailo support?
Tailo currently supports English only, as we use some third-party APIs to support your reading experience, such as generating your content overviews.
We will support other languages in the future. Please check back for regular updates.
Can I summarise different sections of my articles?
Yes! With Tailo’s brand new Section Summaries feature, you can now generate a summary for every section of the documents you upload, as well as the overall content overview. Login to your account to check it out.
How do I share feedback about Tailo?
That’s great! We always love hearing your feedback. Think something could be improved? Or got a great idea for a new feature? You can us your feedback directly in Tailo via the Feedback button, or by emailing us at hello@tailoapp.com
Do I get new features in future updates for free?
Yes, new features of Tailo are automatically included in your DSA licence. In fact, we’re already working on some exciting new features that are designed to make Tailo even more tailored to you and your course! Watch this space 👀

Getting Access to Tailo
How do students get access to Tailo?
When a student is recommended Tailo through the DSA, they will be assigned a licence and will receive an email from us to ‘Create An Account’.
Students will be prompted to follow the instructions in the email to get started. To log in, students will also be sent an email containing a One Time Passcode (OTP) – this removes the need to remember a password while remaining trusted and secure.
How do students log-in to Tailo?

What file formats does Tailo support?
Tailo currently supports any PDF or Word Document. As part of our product roadmap, we will continue to develop Tailo to support other file formats in line with student needs.
What kinds of documents can students read with Tailo?
Tailo is perfect for reading and summarising academic papers, articles, textbook chapters, and more.
We recommend uploading individual chapters rather than whole textbooks.
Does Tailo change a student's content?
No, Tailo does not change the content a student uploads or generates any new content. Rather, Tailo extracts the text, images, tables, and charts and transforms the format into a new, consistent, interactive format. What is written in the document remains the same.
What makes Tailo different?
Tailo provides neurodivergent students with a tailored reading experience that strengthens their understanding and comprehension of content they are required to read as part of their university course.

Do students need any training to use Tailo?
Tailo has been designed in a neuroinclusive way, meaning there is little to no training required for getting started. Students are guided through creating their account and reading identity with simple instructions.

How do students get access to Tailo?
There are different ways that you may be invite students to your Tailo pilot.
I already have a list of students:
- Send your list of students to your account manager via email, either as a Google Sheet or Excel Spreadsheet
- Your account manager will assign your students a Tailo licence for the duration of your pilot
- Your students will recieve a welcome email from us with insturctions on how to set-up their accounts
I don’t have a list of students, yet:
- Send your students this link: tailoapp.com/register
- Ask students to sign-up to their Tailo trial via the online form
- Your account manager will assign the students that sign-up to your pilot a licence
- Your students will recieve a welcome email from us with instructions on how to set-up their accounts
How do students log-in to Tailo?
